The quarry close to Shepherds Lodge is discussed and measurements made. The volumes of granite exported is made and the number of farms that could have been made from it is estimated.

Presentation to the Community Heritage Conference 2017 by Vergunst and Wainwright covering the work of the Bailies on the colony and some thoughts on the Shepherds Lodge quarry.

The facing directions of all the houses on the Bennachie colony were investigated with a hand compass. Most faced SSE but some diverged. Their facing relative to the general slope of the land was also recorded.
